When we graduated in May from Syracuse University, we both thought we would be employed and move out of our small hometowns and childhood homes. The two of us met at Newhouse, in the tiny major of Magazine. We ran a magazine on campus together, which led to some of the best and worst times of our college experience. Two of our years were spent nagging 20-year-old students into writing their stories on time and doing what they willingly signed up for. We had late night meetings, a lot of giggles, a few fights, but mostly the time of our lives.
This entire time, we spent hours talking about the jobs we thought we would waltz into post-grad. Excited to move to NYC and start adulting–and now here we are. College degree, award-winning college magazine under our belts, and still criminally unemployed.
Growing up, having a blog was not a thing we thought would ever be in the cards. Youtubers had blogs, influencers had blogs, we–two random chicks from Massachusetts and Pennsylvania–did not have blogs. Why would anyone care about our opinions, our thoughts, our interests? But, after four years of constant writing and telling stories in our classes, we both find ourselves frustrated without a creative outlet.
So this is where Waiting for What comes in. After chatting for a few weeks about our aggravating situations, we decided we needed a place to put the things we think about daily, even if no one asked.
While no one is giving us assignments or deadlines, we figured a blog was our best bet. So here she lies, Waiting for What, a collection of our future thoughts and opinions, not that we care if you listen.
See you soon,
Gracie and Morgan
